Teen Culture Rising Star

She Has A Clue...

From the Hub’s intriguing mystery show 'Clue', meet up and coming starlet Ana Golja! With natural talent and classic good looks, she definitely has what it takes…

When Ana Golja is not acting, she can often be found riding horses, roller skating, or spending time with her family. That’s just the kind of down-to-earth girl this talented young actress is. She has been dancing since she was 5 and landed her first acting audition when she was only nine years old. Since then she has appeared in numerous film, television and stage productions.  In addition she enjoys all types of dance from tango and hip-hop to salsa and waltz. We chatted with Ms. Golja a little while back and learned some pretty interesting stuff about this rising talent.

LT:  Tell us about your family and where you grew up.

Ana Golja: I have an amazing family that supports me in everything I do. I grew up in Toronto,   and I have an older brother who is now in university.

LT:  What or who inspired you to want to become an entertainer?

Ana Golja: At home, my whole family would gather together and watch back-to-back Shirley Temple movies, then I would go to the bath tub and imitate the sounds that Shirley made while she tapped. So, I would say Shirley Temple inspired me to dance--tap especially, and when I developed the love of entertaining, that’s when I got into acting.

LT: You have experience in lots of styles of dance from ballroom to tap, is there a form that is your favorite?

Ana Golja: I love all styles, because every form of dance is a different way of interpreting. I don’t have an absolute favorite, but if I had to choose, it would either be tap or jazz.

LT: You have worked both on stage and on film? Can you tell us about the differences or which you like more?Ana_Golja_new_1_lite

Ana Golja: They are completely different, so I can’t really compare. I really enjoy performing on a stage because of the audience. I love the reactions and energy that they have, and I, as a performer, feed off of that energy.  I love film because it is more intimate and the fact that you have to imagine how the viewers would react.

LT: Your acting resume has a wide variety of roles that include a lot of different personality types. Is there a character type that you like to play the most?

Ana Golja: I like to challenge myself, so I would say that I enjoy any character type that is as far from me as possible.

LT:  What has been your favorite role?

Ana Golja: I have been very fortunate to play a variety of characters and have enjoyed every  one of them so far, for different reasons.  They each have something different to offer, so I can’t choose!

LT:  You also having experience singing on stage, is that scary?

Ana Golja: Of course I get pre-show jitters sometimes, but once I step onto the stage nothing else exists...

LT: Tell us about your interest in horseback riding.

Ana Golja: I have a soft spot for animals, especially horses. I got into horseback riding when I was about 10 years old, and the movie Dreamer (with Dakota Fanning) was what inspired me to start. Even though I haven’t had any lessons in a while (because of my busy schedule) I am hoping to go to a horseback riding camp this spring break.

LT: Can you give us an update of what you are up to this coming season and where we can see you?

Ana Golja: I have good things happening for me right now, hopefully I can share  exactly what soon. You can stay posted by following me on twitter @TheAnaGolja!
